What Currency Converter does with your data.

Last updated 2026-08-29 · Applies only to the Currency Converter Android app.

Short version

Currency Converter does not require an account and does not use Honest Fern servers for accounts or cloud sync. Your settings, favorites, cached rates, and chart history stay on your device.

The app contacts its disclosed exchange-rate providers when it needs rate data. The free version also uses Google Mobile Ads. These third-party services have their own privacy policies.

For Honest Fern's general privacy approach, see the Honest Fern privacy policy.

Data stored on your device

  • Rates cache — exchange rates you have already loaded, kept on-device so the app can work offline.
  • Chart history cache — historical rate points, kept on-device for the same reason.
  • Your settings — default base currency, decimal places, dark-mode preference, selected currency list, and favorites. These are stored locally and are not uploaded by Honest Fern.

Honest Fern does not ask for your name, email, phone number, address, contacts, photos, location, microphone, camera, health data, or other device sensor data.

Data the app transmits

The app makes outbound HTTPS requests to:

  • Frankfurter / European Central Bank — fiat exchange rates. Free public service, no API key, no account. (frankfurter.dev)
  • fawazahmed0 / exchange-api — crypto exchange rates and historical data. Free public CDN, no API key, no account. (github.com/fawazahmed0/exchange-api)

Rate requests contain only the URL path needed to fetch the rate, such as /v1/latest?base=USD. The providers may also receive standard network information, such as an IP address and request headers, as part of delivering a web request. The app does not add device identifiers, usage telemetry, or analytics payloads.

Advertising

The free version uses Google Mobile Ads. Google processes the information needed to deliver and measure ads under Google's privacy policy. Honest Fern does not use AdMob for its own analytics or profiling.

A one-time in-app purchase removes the ads. After the entitlement is restored, the app stops requesting and displaying them.

Your choices

  • Review ad privacy choices — use the privacy-options entry in the app when Google requires it, and Android's Privacy → Ads controls to reset or delete the Advertising ID.
  • Remove ads — buy the one-time ad-removal option inside the app. No Honest Fern account is needed.
  • Clear all data — use Settings → Data → Clear all data inside the app to wipe the rate cache, chart history, and settings on-device.
  • Uninstall — uninstalling the app removes its locally stored app data from the device, subject to the device's own backup and restore features.

Children's privacy

Currency Converter is intended for a 13+ audience. It does not ask users for their age or knowingly collect children's personal data.

Contact and rights

Questions or data protection requests can be sent to support@honestfern.com. The app does not provide accounts or store user content on Honest Fern servers, so its locally stored data can normally be removed using the controls described above.

For the wider Honest Fern portfolio and the applicable controller information, see the general privacy policy. You may also complain to a supervisory authority — in Switzerland the FDPIC, or your local data protection authority in the EU/EEA.

Changes to this policy

This page will be updated if Currency Converter's data practices change. Significant changes will also be surfaced in the app's release notes.
