Privacy Policy — Honest Fern

Short version

Honest Fern apps are designed to minimize personal data. We do not sell personal data, use first-party analytics, track people across our apps, or build advertising profiles for our own purposes. Each app explains what it stores, sends, or shares.

Some apps may work entirely on your device. Others may use necessary third-party services such as advertising, payments, cloud infrastructure, or AI providers. When they do, the relevant app section explains what is involved and why.

Account and server requirements are specific to each app and are explained in its own policy. Currency Converter does not require an account.

Our privacy approach

These are our design principles. Each app's own policy is the authoritative description of that app's actual data practices.

No first-party tracking. We do not use analytics SDKs, track people across apps, or build user profiles for our own purposes.
No sale of personal data. We do not sell personal data to advertisers or data brokers.
Data minimization. Apps request and retain only the information needed for their features.
Local-first where practical. When an app can work on-device, its app data stays on your device.
Third-party services are disclosed. Advertising, payment providers, cloud infrastructure, AI providers, and other SDKs are described in the relevant app section.
HTTPS only. Every outbound request goes over TLS. No plaintext traffic, no certificate exceptions.

App policies

Each app has its own detailed privacy policy. Those pages are the authoritative description of the app's actual data practices.

Currency Converter — Android app with local rate and settings storage, public exchange-rate providers, and Google Mobile Ads in the free version. Read the Currency Converter privacy policy.

As the portfolio grows, new apps will be added here with their own policies. A future app may require an account, server-side processing, a subscription, or an AI provider when that is necessary for its core features.

This website

The Honest Fern website is designed to be simple and privacy-friendly. It uses no analytics or advertising trackers and does not set cookies for analytics, advertising, login, or profiling. No third-party content is loaded automatically.

Technical delivery. The website is delivered by a hosting provider. Like most websites, limited technical information such as IP addresses and request details may appear in server logs to deliver and protect the site. We do not use these logs for analytics, profiling, or cross-site tracking.
External links. Links to other websites are plain links. If you choose to open one, that website receives your request and its own privacy policy applies.
Contact. We do not provide a contact form. For support or privacy requests, email support@honestfern.com.

Children's privacy

No Honest Fern app is directed at children under 13. Currency Converter is declared for a 13+ target audience and does not ask users for their age or knowingly collect children's data.

Your choices (across all apps)

Clear an app's data — Android Settings → Apps → [Honest Fern app] → Storage → Clear data. Check the app's specific privacy policy for any additional options.
Reset your Android Advertising ID — Android Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID. (Only relevant for apps that show ads.)
Uninstall — for apps that store data only on your device, uninstalling the app removes that on-device data. Apps with accounts or server-side processing will explain their deletion options separately.

Changes to this policy

If the portfolio or its common data practices change, this page will be updated with a new "Last updated" date. Each app's policy has its own date and is updated when that app's practices change. When a new app is added, this page will identify it and link to its policy. Significant changes are surfaced in each affected app's release notes.

Honest Fern is the app brand of an independent software developer based in Switzerland, publishing under his own name on the app stores; it is not a separate legal entity. For this website and all Honest Fern apps, the developer is the data controller. The developer's registered publishing name is shown on each app's store listing.

You can exercise your data protection rights (access, correction, deletion, objection) by emailing support@honestfern.com. We aim to respond to requests within 30 days. The current website and Currency Converter do not provide accounts or store user content on Honest Fern servers, so most requests are resolved by pointing to the on-device controls described above. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority — in Switzerland the FDPIC, or your local data protection authority in the EU/EEA.
